The Day After The Day Before – A Trash Fire
The day before released just yesterday, and even it’s creators are urging people to refund. Let’s examine some of its memorable failures.
The Day Before, the trainwreck of a post-apocalyptic open-world MMO game developed by Fntastic, was released yesterday December 7, 2023. However, it seems that the launch has been a tad iffy. According to numerous sources (see the tweet, erm X below), the players are experiencing server capacity errors and connection issues. When able to connect, the game was filled with long queue times to enter a mediocre experience.

Fntastic has since posted a new three-minute trailer but has also deleted its original trailers following negative feedback at launch. The game’s trailers originally promised a huge open-world survival MMO, and essentially delivered a small-mapped extraction shooter with mostly locked buildings instead. A massive storm of negative reviews and complaints has been bogging down the official Discord. To the point where creators, according to PCGamesN.com, actually shut down the discord server.
Not only that, but the game has also changed its tags/listing on Steam, according to a Reddit post:

This is just FNTASTIC to see these changes being made.
Allegedly Not As Bad As Terrible
While not playing it for myself, I did hear from a friend of mine it was not as terrible as a lot of people have stated. They did however make sure to be clear that it was NOT the game promised, not massive, hardly multiplayer, sparse with activity, a clusterfuck to connect to, and honestly not as visually impressive as the trailers made it seem. So, with that said, and that being not as bad as a large portion of the reviews are stating, it is truly a trash fire—also, a survival game that somehow managed to leave out melee weapons… a bold choice.
Let’s take a look at some truly toxic and fun reviews taken from (the often hilarious shitpost mega fest that is) Steam reviews.

A huge update, including server and AI fixes, is coming in a few hours. #thedaybefore

Well, at the time of writing this, 6 hours had passed since a few hours was alleged. However, FNTASTIC is no stranger to pushing back dates. So we could be looking at a few hours into the next year, or a few hours after GTA 6 is released. Only time will tell.
